Let’s celebrate Monica
from Marcia Karp

MONICA ZURETTI This is for you. Dear sister, You embody peace. Your dedicated work from South America, Italy, the rest of Europe and globally, has as its base, the love of humanity. Thank you, Monica for your profound use of Psycho-Sociodrama. Mostly, thank you for you…. from us all. Courageous Monica Zuretti, you have changed hearts, minds and lives. With love, you did your utmost to make the world more mentally wealthy. You gave us a sense of both family and community. In these last days you said to me, “I’ll be in your heart forever and you in mine, Sis.” You said, as Dr. did, “Remember, I’ll always be with you.” I wrote the peace-piece (below).

It addresses the question we are asked, What was it like? In our training at the Academy of Psychodrama in Beacon, New York with Dr. M. and Zerka, he said, “ One day, we will be able to push a button and share our lives from a distance. A fisherman from Norway can share living relationships with someone in Japan. “ JLM lived the hope that world peace can happen if we’re deeply and globally connected. In the 60’s, China and the U.S. were threatening war. In our nightly seminar, he picked up the phone and actually called the President of China. We students were breathless at the immediacy of his call. As we waited, Moreno said to us, “Both leaders are sons, husbands, fathers, neighbours, policy makers, citizens etc. I want each of them to role reverse to understand the other’s point of view. If they shared the roles of son, father, leader, how could they kill each other?” In the ‘60’s we didn’t know the time differences. (no Google). Chairman Mao Zedong’s secretary said he was asleep. Challenge after challenge meets us every day. Politically and personally, we propose different ways of solving traumatic events.

Coming from the atrocities of WW1, Moreno felt every therapeutic procedure should have no less a goal than world peace. Thank you, to all who are doing their best to make living, a hand in hand experience. Moreno said, “We need all the hands we can get.” The outcome of the question of “Who Shall Survive?” is our crucial responsibility. This question was the title of his book from 1953. It was JLM’s seminal publication. Let’s live our lives “ as if we’re at the brink of creation. “ [ Ed.note] Quotes are through personal communication.
