Members of the assembly of affiliates form a Consultative Assembly of Organizational Affiliates (CAOA). Through the Chairperson of the CAOA, who is a Board member, affiliate concerns are represented at IAGP Board meetings.

Affiliates are invited to send representatives to CAOA meetings and to participate in the CAOA online discussion forum. They are also invited to submit details of their events for the IAGP affiliates events calendar.

Why become an Affiliate Member of IAGP?

The term “Consultative Assembly of Organisational Affiliates” in the context of the International Association of Group Psychotherapy and Group Processes (IAGP) refers to a structured forum within the organization that facilitates communication, consultation, and collaboration among various organizational affiliates of the IAGP. Here’s a detailed breakdown of what this entails:

3. Collaboration and Networking: The Assembly fosters collaboration and networking among the affiliates. This can lead to joint projects, shared resources, and mutual support, enhancing the overall impact of the IAGP’s work.

Structure and Membership
1. Organizational Affiliates: Members of the Consultative Assembly are typically representatives from various organizational affiliates of the IAGP. These could include regional and national group psychotherapy associations, training institutes, and other relevant organizations.
2. Meetings and Communication: The Assembly may hold regular meetings, either virtually or in-person, to discuss key issues, share updates, and coordinate efforts. Effective communication channels are established to ensure ongoing dialogue between the Assembly members and the IAGP leadership.

Roles and Responsibilities
1. Advisory Role: Members of the Assembly provide advice on specific issues, helping to shape the policies and practices of the IAGP to better serve its affiliates and the broader community.
2. Advocacy and Representation: The Assembly represents the interests of the organizational affiliates within the IAGP, advocating for their needs and concerns.
3. Information Sharing: It serves as a platform for sharing information and best practices among affiliates, promoting continuous learning and improvement.

Benefits

2. Increased Engagement: Organizational affiliates are more engaged and invested in the IAGP’s activities, fostering a stronger sense of community and shared purpose.
3. Strengthened Relationships: The Assembly helps build stronger relationships and trust between the IAGP and its affiliates, leading to more effective collaboration and support.

Implementation
1. Establishing the Assembly: Clear guidelines and procedures are established for forming the Assembly, including criteria for membership, roles and responsibilities, and meeting schedules.
2. Ongoing Evaluation: Regular evaluation of the Assembly’s effectiveness is conducted to ensure it continues to meet the needs of the IAGP and its affiliates.
